About the Author

BOBBY ORR, born in Parry Sound, Ontario, in 1948, played for the Boston Bruins from 1966 through 1976, and helped lead the Bruins to the Stanley Cup championship in 1970 and 1972, and to the finals in 1974. He also played two years for the Chicago Blackhawks. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest hockey players--maybe the greatest hockey player--of all time. His speed, scoring, and playmaking abilities revolutionized the position of defenseman. As of this date, he remains the only defenseman to have won the Art Ross Trophy league scoring title--twice--and still holds the record for most points and assists at that position. After his retirement in 1978, Orr was active with business and charitable works, and in 1996, Orr entered the player agent business, and today is president of the Orr Hockey Group agency. He has been invested with the Order of Canada and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, and in 2010 was one of eight athletes who bore the Olympic flag out during the opening ceremonies of the Vancouver Olympics. The Bobby Orr Hall of Fame is in Parry Sound, Ontario.

Like his previous autobiography, I pre-ordered this book months in advance. Even though it is primarily a book of photography, it somehow achieves a much warmer and more intimate look at his life than the first book "Orr: My Story," published four years ago. In "My Story in Pictures," Bobby gives us an engaging and affectionate look into his own life and the lives of those closest to him: family, teammates, mentors, and friends. This time around, Bobby shares with us and, for all the sparseness of the written word, helps us to see his world as he experiences it. He's not as guarded and hesitant, and each new page, each new image of his life is a joy and a thrill to observe. He taps into the bedrock motivations of his audience to love his life and career, and shows us yet again why we are his fans. Put into hockey terms, this book is one of his patented end-to-end rushes, weaving nimbly around defenders like fenceposts, the puck bulging the net, the goal lamp lighting up the packed arena.

I guess I'll be generous and give 3 stars, but maybe I should knock even more off for this disappointment:Super depressed about my childhood hero. I may never watch hockey again! I was on the fence anyway, but then started getting inspired to watch after reading a few pages of Orr's new book, Bobby: My Story In Pictures. But then I skimmed the book. Page 204 depressed the hell out of me. Picture of him with the Bush family and saying they are a "wonderful family, with a wonderful legacy of service to their country". This can only be true if ones definition of "country" is "me and my rich friends". The middle class and poor must belong to a totally different country. Also, I did some Googling about his politics and see that he donated in Massachusetts to help stop the legalization of marijuana. Lesson: don't get to know your heroes too closely. They may disappoint!Orr seriously should have followed the age old wisdom of leaving politics out of his book.Also, very odd but many pages with photos don't have captions saying who or where they are! Just out of context photos. Not to mention, a lot of blank space. One small photo on a whole page with mostly blank white.Update: changing to two stars because even ignoring that he seems to like political monsters, it's not a great book. One can't be great at everything, and one thing Bobby is not great at is writing. I've read his other books also. And the photos are disorganized and not labeled very well. Oh well. He should have had more help.

This book was amazing! It had let’s of pictures af the Great Bobby Orr and his Family growing up to the present time. It was worth every penny !!I loved it great job Bobby Orr & Co

Love the book especially the man. Grew up during his time in Boston. Love the size of the book. Recommend it to any Boston Bruins or hockey fan.

My husband is a huge Bobby Orr fan but not a big reader. He was very excited about getting this book, began reading it immediately and was very pleased with it.

I also preordered this book, and while I enjoyed the photos and captions, I wished the pictures had been dated. I also would have liked to see more game action shots.

Arrived in perfect condition and I got the Violin edition unlike some of the other reviewers.

Just what the teacher recommended.

When I ordered this item, what shipped was Solo Time for Strings for Bass Book One (which is also available under a different item number and description). Amazon does not apparently sell Solo Time for Strings for Violin Book One (although they sell Book Two). The description here is competely incomplete. I'm giving the product three stars, because it might be some use for a bass student, but it's no help for a young violinist.

I chose the book, because they were the same style I had when I was a girl in school, I thought they might help get back.

I ordered Solo Time Strings, Book 1 (Violin) and Amazon sent the version for Cello...Amazon sucks!!!!! Use Barnes and Noble!!!!!!

The content of this book is useful, but it has restrictive digital rights that severely marginalize it for me. I downloaded it onto two or three computers at my workplaces, and now it says I can't authorize it on any more devices. It is such a huge book that my tablet is very slow navigating it. I would have been better off getting a subscription to an online drug reference.

This replaced a similar book I had which became outdated. It was in excellent condition for a used book. I've always liked the content and use it extensively in my dental hygiene practice.

Spicer's book really hits the nail on the head and I cannot say that clear enough. I am currently a C-Level Executive at an institutional strategic advisory firm very much of the higher level Stephen references in his work and had years of industry experience at Fortune 100 companies that dole out the platitudes Stephen so eloquently pokes holes in. I like Stephen saw through the blanket statements for what they are, a potential moral hazard for the sake of apathy/ignorance on the part of the advisor. Over the course of the read, I would continually find myself impressed with his ability to pull actual analytics (e.g. Goldman Sachs outlooks, Morningstar surveys) and present the pertinent information within them simplified to the point of clarity, but not to the point of condescending. The no nonsense manner of the book treads a perfect line of being witty yet serious, concerned yet reassuring, and upper level yet accessible. The best analogy that I can think of is to compare it to your favorite professor from college who made everything understandable speaking upon one of the most difficult classes that you took. It really is a masterfully written work offering concision without sparing necessities. As a person that has an explicit interest in finance and a voracious reader, I consumed this book in one sitting. Stephen has pinpointed a weakness in the old way of thinking about portfolios and investing and does a great job in not only articulating this weakness, but providing step by step options to help protect your portfolio.Probably my favorite aspect of this book is how it is written for the average reader in mind. Stephen doesn't bother getting bogged down in financial jargon that would drive away the very people that he is trying to enlighten and help. He takes fairly complicated topics and investments and thoroughly defines and describes each of them so that they can be understood and their potential place in your portfolio can be easily visualized. As someone in the industry I understand very well the difficulties of trying to explain some of these strategies to clients and found this book's approach to those explanations most helpful.I would recommend this book to anyone: either a beginning investor or someone who has been investing for years. The investment world has changed a lot since the recession and continues to do so. Stephen provides you with the knowledge and tools to build a better investment portfolio to take advantage of the upside while at the same time protecting your hard earned assets.

Not only is this new book by Stephen Spicer informative, it is clear, concise, and to the point which makes for an enjoyable read. The book illustrations are descriptive and make for fun page turning learning :). Having read a few texts on investing/financial advice in the past (7 habits, etc.), I find this book to be what I needed (as an amateur investor) to really understand the fundamental concepts of growing my money through investments. As an example of the writing clarity, Mr. Spicer's description on "shorting" stocks (as well as many other investment topics throughout the book) was so clear and well thought out that I feel as if I learned/finally understood the investment lingo being thrown around by others.It is definitely a good read for any amateur/new investor!

I am a Financial Advisor as well and can say that Stephen certainly knows more than 95% of advisors practicing today.

Brownstone is discovering that even though he is totally kick-ass, Alison has decided that she wants him to be her Dad, and he likes the idea. As a step-parent without any "natural" children of my own, I truly understand the feeling of pride and wonder when I get called Dad or Grandpa. Shay is learning that she cares more than she wants to believe. Alison is learning that families don't have to be blood relatives. Very good book as it will appeal to Young Adult and Adult readers. Can't wait until the next book is out.

I just loved the tone of this book. I laughed straight through the first two pages. James has a fascinating and funny way of seeing the world. And Shay has played the part of tomb raider and assassin with great finesse and appreciation for her new partner with great humor and patience! Love the interaction with the Professor / Father and of course Allison. I am especially happy that information about James’s artifact has surfaced. This makes me extremely intrigued. Looking forward to more!!! And the new book on Allison. Bravo!

What can I say? I’m going to read anything that Michael puts out. I’ve yet to be disappointed. I’ve been hooked since the first book in The Kurtherian Gambit series way back 100+ books ago. Then came all the collaborations with awesome authors. Oriceran Universe jumped in with Martha Carr and more awesome authors!Brownstone series keeps getting better and better.

One of the best Amazon recommendations I have ever gotten, this has rapidly become another one of my must-read series. I think these characters are completely unique and the stories are awesome. Please keep this series going for a goof long time.

This time we get to see Mr. Brownstone and his urban family and “frienemies” taking care of bad guys and bounties. We leave with more questions about his past, wanting more action, and for some reason craving bbq.

What I like most was the characters stayed true to themselves in life and death situations. Fantasy Action that hits a tune and cord with current personal american emotions and vibes.

Wow, so much happening with Brownstone. Him getting so on touch with his feelings and opening up, love it. What and Alison are good for him. You cannot go wrong reading this series.

Love the way the characters are developing. Plenty of shoot-‘em-up in this one and an interesting twist on just who/what the unbelievable Mr. Brownstone truly is. Next please!
