As a UX-focused front-end developer, this book was less than helpful. I was expecting a more advanced or systematic approach to refactoring CSS like how to refactor existing speghetti code into something that could follow existing, known structure standards like BEM, SMACSS, Atomic, etc..Maybe I just didn't read far enough into the later chapters as I had a hard time sticking through it?

I've actually worked with the author and watched him take the tangled tatters of two different websites and restructure them into clean, extensible, maintainable projects. This book is a great, straightforward introduction to front end architecture and refactoring. It provides a good set of starting principles for stylesheet architecture and considerations to ponder when you're contemplating a major refactor, as well as some specific examples and strategies to get you started. It will be useful to those who are new to web development, anyone with a nagging feeling that their stylesheets could topple under their own weight, and people who have inherited projects with unmaintainable stylesheets who need to figure out how to salvage them.

The book I purchased fell apart in less than a week. The information inside was not all that helpful anyway. I was hoping for a more generic type of price listing. One that would give good examples with pictures on lots of marbles. The book seemed to focused on high end pieces, not the kind you might find everyday, or perhaps played with as a child.

Grade 4-6–Reminiscent of biographies written in the 1950s, this book describes Glenn's life in a highly readable style. Ashby also skillfully includes historical events in the narrative. Beginning with Glenn's childhood, she highlights his contributions to his family during the Great Depression, as he helped save their house by growing and selling crops, washing cars, and delivering newspapers. She traces his flying career during World War II and the Korean War and as a test pilot. She also describes the difficulties he had to overcome to become an astronaut, his historic orbital flight around the Earth, his time as a senator, and his return to space on the Discovery at age 77. The few photographs included are limited to a short section describing the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs. There is no documentation for the many quotes and thoughts that appear throughout the text. The nonfiction book is about the extraordinary life of John Glenn who became the first United States astronaut to orbit Earth. This historical achievement happened on February 20,1962. The space rocket named Atlas was launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida. John Glenn piloted the Mercury-Atlas 6 “Friendship 7” spacecraft for three orbits of Earth, reaching and orbital velocity of 17, 500 mph (approximately 28,000 kilometres per hour). The total mission time was four hours, 55 minutes and 23 seconds in space. The book further explores John Glenn's career as a United States senator from the state of Ohio and and his historic return to space in 1998 at the age of 77. John Glenn made history again on October 29,1998, by becoming the oldest man to fly in space aboard the space shuttle named Discovery. One of my favorite parts of reading the inspirational book was learning how John Glenn became an astronaut. No astronauts could be older than thirty nine years of age or weigh more than 180 pounds. Astronauts were also required to have a college degree. I recommend all readers of all ages to read the fascinating Rocket Man and give a rating of five stars.Reviewed by Cyrus S., age 9, Greater New York Mensa
