I T Lucas is such a talented author, this book is full of suspense, lust and romance. Magnus and Vivian are so into each other, he has fallen for her and she feels the same for him except she thinks she is cursed and all her men die because of her. So she is hesitant to give into her feelings for Magnus because she doesn’t want him to die. I suspect she, Ella and Parker are dormants. The thing that intrigued me was Dimitri’s remark about Ella’s resemblance to someone who I suspect he killed. A mystery. What is going to happen next, will they find Ella unharmed? Will they have a war and kill Dimitri and all his Russian mafia associates? How about Magnus and Vivian, will she transition since he bit her? And Ella and Julian, will they become lovers? I think Julian is attracted to Ella already. This is such a good book, I like how it ended on a cliffhanger, keeping the readers on edge until the next book. I highly recommend this book, this trilogy and the entire series. Keep them coming! 📚 🤗

I write so few reviews although I've read a great deal of wonderful books on Kindle Unlimited.This series is amazing, there are not many authors that can keep the stories flowing so passionately. But the Children of the Gods.. Lucas you keep doing it over and over again. I've fallen in love with each one of your characters and As soon as I start one of your books I know better than to plan anything for the rest of the day because I'm not putting it down. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to bringing us your fantastic stories.

WOW, another great and exciting installment in this series. Book #23 and I'm excited to read #24. This book was too short. Not to be a spoiler but I hope that Julian saves Ella before she is violated. I.T. Lucas makes us care about the characters that she creates. I can't wait to read Julian's and Ella and Magnus and Vivian's story. And more Parker and Scarlet. I've already pre-ordered book # 24

This book has no ending and forces one to order the rest of the book which is more than a month away. Although I enjoy reading the books they have become so short that it takes me two evenings to read and then at the middle of the story it says that’s all for now wait until the end of January to read the second part of the book. This is not acceptable.

This one is becoming one of my favorite, well seriously I have love all. But this one is more adventurous since the doomors . I am loving Magnus he is a fashion snob but he has a heart of gold. I can't wait for what is coming next. My only problem is they take forever to come out with the next book lol (not really). Love love this series.

I pre-ordered this and couldn't wait to get it. Then I was so greedy and it was SO good I read it all in one night. Same basic theme as other books in this series, but such a different plot and different villains. I want the next book RIGHT NOW!!!! It was a terrific story with a great plotline. I absolutely adore this series. If you’re looking to read fun romance, you’ve found the right series. Oh, and the sex! Just fab! The books are filled with colorful quirky characters one can’t help but fall in love with. As the books advance you get a peek at the life of past couples and get a glimpse of their HEA. Start with the first one!The Magnus & Vivian story is turning out to be a suspenseful page turner. Magnus is one special dude! I love how he takes a chance and whispers into her hair things she can’t react to or give a response to just then. He’s exciting that way. Can’t wait to see how things turn out.

At first, I am thinking this doesn’t even sound like the CoGPRSeries....after the third chapter, I was hooked! Pulled an all nighter to finish! It is a cliff hanger, but super wow! This is a great series and the story of Magnus and Vivian is superb! Highly recommend!

I've been a fan of the Name Explain You-Tube channel for a time and was gifted this book for Christmas. The book provides the same sort of enjoyment provided by the channel, with snippets of etymology that you can pick up at any time. Great first book for the author, and a fun book to have around for rainy days.

I haven’t seen anyone mention it, maybe I got a bad copy; but I have never in my life seen a “professionally” published book filled with more misspellings, grammatically errors and sentences so fractured that the the paragraph they reside in becomes un readable . I asked the publisher to send me a new, correctly edited copy of the book if I don’t get one I am going to request a refund.I am not a grammar geek but after a while the errors become so irritating l begin to feel I have been ripped off.Some of the content is kind of quirky I bought it for my 12 year old son who likes the guys video does but even he is starting to become annoyed by some of the sentences being so twisted up he finds it hard to follow what he is talking about.I really have never seen anything like this before it is atrocious!!!

A very easy-to-read book with tons of topics covered. It is very fun, light reading and would make a great gift!

This book was a good read for medical history, but was not on the same level as other medical histories that I've read. It stalled in a couple of places, and I found that occasionally all the other extraneous information added not related to the story itself, would sometimes be confusing.I had no idea that transfusion was considered back in the 1600's. All it took was one arrogant physician, trying to push the envelope. And if you've been in medical school, you've seen a few of those. In this case, dealing with such an unknown (they did not know about the cell markers in blood at that point which would cause clotting reactions if people were given the wrong blood type). It's too bad that Jean-Baptise Denis couldn't see our use of blood today, and see how well his idea saves lives today. Now to be fair, he wasn't the first to try transfusion. That definitely belongs to the British. But he tried hard, in spite of religious and medical objections, to demonstrate the possibilities of transfusions. It boggles the mind to consider that if transfusions had been possible that far back (with continued research), the lives that could have been saved in all the wars.The research for this book probably wasn't easily done. Especially if you had to get rare material in French, from the courts and royal records kept almost 500 years ago. Apparently, the author, Tucker, knows French as well as English, so that explains a lot.This is a great book to read if you want to understand how far back medical research goes, and many of the obstacles that are put in the way of those who do research.

This book is more about the controversy surrounding human blood transfusions than the actual history of transfusions themselves. I think that many readers (including myself) were expecting something else but after reading the epilogue for the book I have a better understanding of why the author was trying to do and why she wrote the book. I think that it would have been better to explain some of that in the beginning of the book so that the reader would have a better understanding of what the author was going for. That being said, this is still and interesting easy read. The author does a good job of making the time period come alive and the back stories explaining the intrigues of 17th century european politics was very well written. If your looking for a detailed academic study of early work in blood transfusions, you will be disappointed reading this book but if you want to read in engaging story about the general state of medical science in Britain and France in the late 17th century this is a good book to read

My science-focused book club read this and it was interesting. It was also really, really cringe-inducing for any animal lover. A LOT of the book is about guys taking strays, farm animals and even their own pets and transfusing them crudely, without anaesthesia. (It does a great job of illustrating the dichotomy between the attitude of the time that animals can't really feel or process pain and the refusal by some researchers to use their own companion animals due to the observable trauma - something our present-day scientists also struggle with). The book is pitched as showing the inner workings of the scientific establishment during the Enlightenment but I didn't find that part terribly well done. It sort of wandered...there aren't any good guys and the list of bit players gets confusingly long. While Holly has clearly done her research, the book doesn't answer some of the questions one would logically ask. For example, it tells us dogs have many more blood types than humans, but doesn't explain why dog transfusions showed positive results in most of the canine transfusion recipients when the centrepiece of the book is the damage done to a human who received incompatible blood. OTOH this is a great distillation of the period and the early history of transfusion research.BTW Holly is extremely responsive to requests for information and interviews. In our case, she not only video conferenced with the book club (only 40 members and we'd already purchased the book) but is coming to the Decatur Book Festival on Labor Day weekend. I would probably give the book itself 3 1/2 stars, but Holly's responsiveness and charm made me bump it up instead of down. With better editing, her next book (and I hope there is one) should be awesome!

I loved City of Lights: City of Poison. So with a tile of “A Tale of Medicine and Murder” I expected another true-crime narrative from Tucker. This reads less like a tale and more like a textbook.Also, with the focus being early medicine and blood transfusions there is quite a focus on animal experimentation- an expected topic for a book on blood transfusions but not what I was looking for.

The book does a workmanlike job of covering the blood-transfusion controversies and fallouts from the mid-1600s. I did learn many new things on the topic, and would recommend that segment of the book for background information on the subject. The complex interaction between English and French scientists, private vs. government sponsorship, and the poisonous lengths some people went to in forcing their opinions on others are very instructive. There is no dramatic revealing of the murderer in court, but the narrative of the experiments are quite adequate for that. The insights into their concerns about what we would now call genetic engineering are similar to concerns today, though with a nonfactual background.Unfortunately, the author slipped into a highly partisan political commentary at the end of the book, which detracts from the effective history in the remainder of the text.

Thoroughly engaging read. This is one of the few books I've picked up and read through without putting down. Ms. Tucker weaves an intellectual stimulating tale with rich visuals and quirky characters through the fabric of history in medicine. I highly recommend for those Early Modern era aficionados looking to learn about the practice of medicine and its evolution.

Finally the book I have been waiting for! We live with our three equines and for years I have been asking vets, farriers and other equine professionals what certain behaviors of our equines mean and how can I better understand and work with them, and now some answers and tools to improve our lives together. Our mule just started teething and is not comfortable, but after just one week of using the methods in this book all of our lives are more relaxed and easier. I am so grateful, thank you.

By no means am I a trainer, I spent the last 2 months in a small paddock with a very timid mustang watching him and doing much of what Sharon writes about not sure if I was crazy but not really caring what the people around thought, I made progress and then I read this book, twice now, he and I do communicate, even better now that I have read this book!

I bought this to try to understand my sensitive and nervous horse better. While I had established that I was ‘the boss,’ she still was extremely unsure of herself and her fears made it difficult and often frustrating to work with her. I read through the book and felt such relief that I could now understand what she was trying to tell me, and that I could listen and respond rather than just ignoring her concerns and demanding obedience. I worked through the beginning exercises on our first day and was rewarded with a horse that was more relaxed than at any time since I’ve had her. I felt the beginnings of trust and rapport for the first time. She was also surprised and interested that I could now speak better horse. All the other horses at the barn I ‘talked to’ responded to the greeting ritual the same way, so it is definitely a universal language - fun and useful! Wish this type of information was part of learning to ride - it was all pretty new information to me. The book is clear and concise, with many useful pictures. It’s the owner’s manual horses should come with!

This is an interesting perspective on horse/human conversations. I had never thought of trying to learn "horse speak," just wanted to teach my horses to recognize my words and actions. I feel differently now! It is also fun to watch equine interactions among themselves; they have a whole world of communication. The many pictures in the book help illustrate just what to do; it is clearly written and an excellent book all the way around.

At first, it feels like the author anthropomorphizes horses at times but in reality she does not. Horses are described as an alien people with their own codes of conduct and body language, which in fact is what they really are. Her writing style simply aims at non-biologists. The book is full of practical advice that any person can put to test immediately after reading a few first pages.I would recommend this book to all who are interested in horses, other animals, and even humans. It teaches readers to be more observant and perceptive of other fellow beings.

Really enjoyed reading the interpretations of horse breath and movement as all parts of horse body language. It all reads as innately true when you've been around horses. There are many subtle cues that humans miss because we misinterpret what the horse is expressing or because humans are too busy with other human activities to have fully noticed and respond appropriately.I found the information on all the different breathes the most compelling. As I have seen horses use all of these breathes, but hadn't made the same connections to mimic them to help horses feel comfortable in situations where they might feel more claustrophobic or unsure.I really liked the breakout story about Joe and how the Horse Speak language helped his owners understand him in a better way so they could work in a more harmonious way to gain in their relationship.

Being able to understand body language and communicate back in that language is key in relationship building with ones animal. Numerous books have been written about body language for dog and cat owners. With Horse Speak, we finally have a guide for understanding what our horses are telling us. Photographing many different horses, Horse Speak shows various gestures and explains what they mean. It has exercises in communicating with ones horse. The book does not purport to be a training guide but rather a communication assistant. Thanks to Wilsie and Vogel’s book, we do not have to spend years deciphering what our horses are trying to tell us: we now have a communication guide.

I purchased this book to help me make the transition between my engineering & graphic design backgrounds to my new career as a technical writer/illustrator. I gave it two stars because the price isn't equal to the quality of the book or the knowledge gleaned. If it were a simple hard back at $15, it'd be 4 stars easy.Pros:- Short, only ~160 pages- Direct, some of the steps are well crafted obvious statements- Well researched, writers have worked with many groups over many years- Some nice technical illustrationsCons:- Price, price, price. It's a small 8x10, thin paperback monochrome book that I'd expect to see on a bargain table for $5, but $50? After some thought, I think this book might be a left over textbook; it's that college bookstore kind of mark-up.- Preface is painful to read. Maybe the author was so burned out on writing simple easy to follow instructions that maybe they felt this was really the time to shine. If you are crunched for time, just skip it as it can unfairly color the rest of the text.- Be weary of reading this book before working with ex-military engineers.

This is a small but information-packed (and rather expensive) 136-page volume for all technical writers who are writing procedural guides and/or maintenance and trouble shooting manuals for mechanical systems. The authors clearly have a lot of experience in documenting mechanical systems and working on military documentation projects.This book is unique for me because I come from a software background and it is easier to find books on technical documentation of software-hardware systems and hi-tech systems. This work is mostly about low-tech systems like bicycles, carburetors, gear systems, engines etc. But its principles apply to all systems, low- or hi-tech, all across the board. It is thoroughly illustrated with clear drawings which helps a lot since graphic illustration is an important component of instructional writing.The chapter headings sound "academic" but the content is anything but. Actually, the book is so user-friendly that it even provides a long list of action verbs, complete with their meanings, that should be a treasured resource for all non-native English speakers and writers.The chapters are: 1] Introduction, 2] General Considerations, 3] General Presentation principles, 4] Information to Plan the work, 5] Graphics, 6] Language Control, 7] Text and Format Specifications and Rules, 8] Preparing the Instructions, 9] Special Considerations for Maintenance, APPENDIX: Checklist for Developing Easy-to-Use Instructions.The checklist in the Appendix is also precious. It not only gives you a great step-by-step list of the items that you should have in your documentation, but also refers back to the chapters and sections within the book where you can find more information on the subject. It is a better and more relevant "Table of Contents" that the obligatory one provided in the beginning of the book. As such, it is very instructional indeed. Every such book should have a Checklist as this one.Overall, I recommend this book highly to all my readers who are in the technical communication field; and especially to those who are writing step-by-step instructions for low-tech mechanical systems.
