Full disclosure. I’ve not yet tried a recipe. But, I’ve just pursued the entire book, I can honestly say it is the FIRST cookbook rhat I can say I’ll try at least 80% of the recipes! I buy cookbooks and am generally disappointed. The recipes look seriously easy, a balance of healthy and fun! I love that there are pictures and tips.

Just got my cookbook today! Leafing through it my only concern is what recipe to pick first! Just the right amount of seasoning of humor, creativity, ease, and practicality. I've been following Siri's blog for years and she's never steered me wrong, so ordering her cookbook was a no-brainer! We've made four recipes from this book so far and they've all been winners at our house! Thanks Siri!

We have loved using this cookbook! It’s one of the first cookbooks I’ve bought (& I’ve bought a lot) where I actually will make all the recipes! As a mom of three young kids I’m also looking for recipes that I can make for the whole family and give some parts of the meal to the difference picky eaters and this is the book for that!! My kids love browsing through it and picking recipes based on all the awesome pics! Highly highly recommend.

I've followed Siri's blog for years and I'm a big fan of her wit and self-deprecating humor. (And maybe, just maybe secretly wish we were real-life friends). I was excited for this cookbook to be released and fortunately it does not disappoint. Good mix of comfort foods and family-friendly, healthy meals that are easy to whip up after a long day at the office and generally approved at all levels of our household from husband to toddler to Siberian Husky (oops!). She even manages to give tips on sneaking vegetables into her dishes. I very much appreciate that every recipe has a picture because I'm 99% more likely to try a recipe if I can see that it looks delicious. I hand the cookbook to my toddler and he picks out the pictures of what he wants for dinner the coming week and my planning is complete. If you're looking for a crowd-friendly cookbook that makes you look like a functional working mom, search no more!

This cook book is a MUST for any cook! I absolutely love it! I have easily made over half of the recipes and my husband, children and friends all have gone crazy over the yummy food. Really a great book, fun tid-bits, easy to read and understand and did I mention the cocktail section? I simply love this cook book. It has easily become my go - to for the summer! You gotta buy one for your self ASAP!

This cookbook come from blogger Siri Daly who you may have seen working her kitchen magic on the Today Show. In this book she shares many of her personal recipes that she actually makes for her three children and handsome hubby Carson Daly. The book is divided into 6 sections and I must admit that there are several items in each and every section that I can’t wait to make:1. Wakey wakey! – here are the breakfast recipes and probably the most mundane portion of the book. The Egg-in-hole avocado toast may be in my future.2. Halftime – some excellent midday suggestions. There are many salad and bowl recipes but for me the Crab and Corn Chowder is the winner of this section.3. It’s Five O’clock Somewhere – here you’ll find some refreshing ideas for cocktail time. It includes both liquid imbibes (including an old fashioned Brandy Alexander) and also sever snacks to go along.4. Time for Dinner – Here is the family supper contributions. Lots of pasta dishes. Heavy on the meat offerings are in this section. Some yummy slow cooker and slightly international inputs. For me the Mexican Pork Soup has a big, yellow page marker to try when my boys and their families stop by.5. Sidekicks – here are many suggestions that use veggies as the star. The Rainbow Potato Salad with Crispy Shallots is another “marked page” for me.6. Sweet Treats – this ends the book as sweets often end the meal. The best contributions here are several Girl Scout cookie hacks. The Samoas and Tagalongs may be worth the price of the book by themselves.This is an excellent cookbook that has recipes that are neither difficult nor do they use hard to find ingredients. Delicious - yes. Nutritious - some are, some aren't (and there are no nutritional values). There are lots of pictures which, for me, is a “must” if I’m purchasing a cookbook. There are also many personal anecdotes that are both interesting and charming.

I am not a cheerleader/gymnast, a parent, or a coach. I am a mountain biker who has gained insight and results from reading this book, Unblocked: The Walls Come Tumbling Down.Recently, on an easy ride on a trail that I had done more than 300 times, I got to a drop and couldn’t remember how to ride it. I was baffled and frustrated, and tried over and over, and each time my body froze. My husband and I discussed it and I asked how it was possible that my body couldn’t do something that I have done for years. How was it that my brain couldn’t visualize or remember how to do it? I then started to freeze on other drops and couldn’t find a way to move my body.I decided to find a book to help me. I searched for a mountain biking specific book and couldn’t find one. The only book that I found, that matched what I thought might be happening to me, was this book for cheerleaders. While I felt it was a stretch, I was desperate to find a solution to this problem.I am so glad that I took a chance. It turns out that mountain biking and gymnastics have similarities because they are sports where we ask our bodies to do scary things, and we must trust our skills and equipment. The explanation of the ANS response made so much sense to me. I had a Block and now I knew why my body became frozen, and how I could just forget how to do something that I had done hundreds of times. I started working with the material and doing the mental exercises.I have since moved beyond the Block and have regained my ability to do this drop, and have a new way to reflect on my cycling, and working with obstacles. Even if you aren't a competitive cheerleader, give this book a try.

My wife and I were told a couple weeks back that our 8 year old was afraid of doing her toe pitch back tuck for her acrobatics competition team. A skill that was performed for over a year though not perfect, she still completed it with no stalls. Though surprised, we had a minor idea that this may be happening but certainly not to the parameters and level of stalling. After reaching out to a couple of people within our digital family tree on our social platforms we were recommended Jeff's book to assist her in what we now call "the mental block" from the first page to the last this book was phenomenal. I expedited the book for delivery as time was of the essence since the season had begun and choreography is getting set and our daughter was falling out of love of a sport that she has lived for, for over half her life. Being that she started at the age of 3 we never really expected this to happen as we didn't even know what it was. Once reading through his book within two days and reaching out to Jeff we had set a consulting time with him to discuss a game plan. Its been less than three weeks and our daughter is already feeling and getting more comfortable with this skill using Jeff's methods and conversations. I know they will stand the test of time. We all know that competitive sports is unlike any other event in life. The stresses that we as parents put on our athletes (sometimes not intentionally) are large but they compare nothing to the size and amount of stresses that our athletes put on themselves to succeed at a sport they love so much. Since finding out about her block we as parents have come to understand that sports are not only about their physical assets but also about their mind set and mental abilities and we must pay attention to this to help them succeed at their goals. Jeff has an astounding understanding of the mind and how things can be achieved. If you have an athlete in cheer, gymnastics or any competitive sport for that matter I strongly recommend you purchase this book and take the time to understand what we as parents, coaches and support groups for our athletes can do to provide a healthy, fun hardworking environment when they are on the mats or field. This book is a must for all parents, coaches, and athletes. Jeff has written a book that breaks down what happens with an athlete has a mental block. As a parent I sometimes couldn't understand why my daughter was not able to perform a skill she has been doing so effortlessly for years.Her coaches had also hit a wall in how to help her. She went from loving cheer to not wanting to go to practices. A friend suggested Jeff's book and from the moment it arrived I couldn't put it down until I finished the entire book. It was such a straightforward easy read with examples that fit our situation to a tee. I then read the book with my daughter and she was pulled into to the stories of other athletes and how they were able to work through their mental block. I then emailed Jeff and from there we began sessions to work through my daughters mental block. Jeff is so down to earth and approachable; he developed such a rapport with my daughter--she was like a sponge soaking in everything from Fixed Mindset to Growth Mindset and her critical coach. But most of all she learned that she was not reacting differently from other athletes in similar situations. Through this process she has begun to develop her Growth Mindset and no longer looks at her not throwing a skill as a failure but instead an opportunity to work hard and progress to the skill. These are skills and learnings that my daughter will use the rest of her life. We shared the book with her coaches in an effort to work collectively. While my daughter is throwing all her skills these days we don't take for granted anything. We focus on the hard work that lead to the skill and praise her for that effort--not just applauding the specific skill anymore. It's changed our lives!! Thank you Jeff!!!!

This book is completely worth reading even if you aren't struggling with mental blocks. It gave great information for athletes, parents and coaches. My daughter, who does struggle with a mental block and felt like she was alone and misunderstood. For the first time she feels normal and ok. She excited for the process she is undergoing and I am happily cheering her on.

I'm an aspiring writer, so when I sit down to read a book, I'm not just reading it, I'm also looking at the nuts and bolts the author slapped it together with. So for me, finding a book with a writing style I enjoy is hard because I'm picky about the quality of the bits its made of and how those bits are soldered together. This one has a few ups and downsPros:- Solid writing style: I have not found one, single, solitary typo, syntax issue, or vocabulary imbalance. Good job Gary!- Easy read: the author doesn't spend needless amounts of time describing places or objects and the plot follows a singe protagonist on a linear plot. It's impossible to get lost.- Casual length: its not too long, this book is only a few hundred pages.Cons:- Booooorrrrrriiiiiing!!!!!!! Good lord, this book is boring. It starts slow, continues slower, and probably ends in a veritable crawl (I don't know because I couldn't finish the darn thing). Aside from 1 creepy scene where Marco is captured Acre, nothing happens. Ever. And when that kidnapping in Acre is over, Marco shrugs his shoulders at the gruesome, near-death experience and decides, "I guess I'll tell no one about this." The sorcerer doesn't come after him again for destroying all his urns and ruining his ritual; and the only permanent impact it has on the main character is, "figs and sesames are yucky now." Wow Jennings... profound. Marco doesn't develop paranoia, or revulsion, or a hatred of dark arts practitioners. He doesn't try to get revenge on the boys who drugged him and left him to a horrible fate. He doesn't report it to any authority figure to prevent others from befalling the same fate. Nothing. Just "oh well, moving on." So why was it even in the book?As Jennings regales us about one uneventful scene and sets another, I keep waiting for something of significance to happen, a challenge to make the protagonist grow, getting separated from his dad and uncle, the appearance of a love interest, ANYTHING. I kept telling myself, "surely there must be a reason the author decided this middle-of-nowhere pit-stop was noteworthy enough to expend ink on," But we get nothing. Bad form, sir Jennings, bad form.- Weak Protagonist: The protagonist is a one dimensional, unlikable dolt with almost no interesting qualities. He doesn't have any goals or ambitions and just bounces around from place to place "experiencing" things, being led by his father and uncle---who are much more interesting characters than Marco, as they actually seem to have personalities and things they're striving for.- Too many pointless side characters: As he travels, Marco bumps into a ton of other people from paupers to princes, and -none- of them have any impact on the tone, direction, or pacing of the story. Marco doesn't really learn from them, none of them have anything unique or wise or memorable to say. Jennings could literally have deleted 90% of these dialogues and lost nothing from the actual plot.- Pedophilia: Uhh... Okay, so I get that other cultures are different, and this book takes place during a time period long before the present day... but I don't see how the incessant reemergence of little boys diddling each other and offering up their anuses adds anything to the story. Its uncomfortable, unnecessary, and serves no actual purpose other than perhaps to sate some unforgivably disgusting fetish for the author. Blegh.... what a wince-inducing waste of narrative. Jennings was better served by talking about architecture, ancient tools and tech, linguistics and cultural etiquette. Those are interesting ways to delineate their time / culture from ours. Not that any of that adds to the plot either. Which brings me to my next issue...- What is the plot, exactly? At the beginning Marco sort of gets an ambition: get laid. Its weaker than watered down Bud Lite, but at least he was trying to accomplish something. But after Marco's imprisonment in Venice, the plot becomes: go somewhere else, I guess. But he doesn't do anything. He just follows along. He doesn't learn any cool skills or develop concerns / goals / needs of any variety. Anything can happen in the big open world, especially in those times. Would it have killed the author to invent something besides, "we bought a camel today, then rode that camel for like 5 months. One day I swallowed a bug." The End.

Gary Jennings researched his novels to exacting detail, which gives his usually first-person-narrated stories an accuracy and sense of "being there" that few other authors can accomplish. Since Marco Polo was broadly quoted as saying that he had reported only half of what he had seen and done, Jennings took that quote as the springboard to tell the "other half" in The Journeyer. Oh, and does he! Jennings is a true tale spinner, a titillating yarn teller nonpareil. Although this review site's parameters for violence and sexual content are limited to only three perfunctory levels, Jennings' inclusions of violence and sexual content are of the most exquisite and delicious descriptive language. To be clear: if heat bothers you, this kitchen is likely not for you. Nevertheless, once begun, The Journeyer is a hard read to put down. It's erudite, historically and argot accurate, and just plain fun to consume.

I didn't think that Gary Jennings could top himself after the masterpiece that was "Aztec," but I was wrong. The amount of research that must have been done, and the attention to detail, then woven into this mesmerizing tale of a world that was on the brink of linking cultures previously kept separate by geography, topography, fear, and peril. You will love this book. You will alternately praise Jennings for his mastery at the craft of weaving a tapestry of curiosities and curse him for the sleep you lose when you absolutely must find out where the story leads. This is exactly the kind of book that can awaken in the reader a thirst for knowledge, history, and adventure. Be forewarned: if you lend this book out, you'll never set eyes on it again.

I enjoyed Aztec very much so I went into this book with high expectations. I made it exactly 30% in (according to my Kindle) and I'll read no more. The story is somewhat plodding at this point. What I can't stand is Jennings' fascination with pedophilia. He describes in great detail how young boys are raised and physically conditioned to be used by men starting at age 4. The story's protagonist (Marco Polo) takes a boy of 8 to sell him into sexual servitude. All the while Polo has to fight off his personal lust for the boy and the boy is gladly used by Polo's Uncle. Polo then decides to not judge his Uncle so harshly. These type of descriptions are repeated in different ways. I really don't like to read books that cause me to wince so much.

Gary Jennings did good research and seemed to have follow the original translated work of Marco Polo, adding his own imaginative detail for information Polo left out (personal info and opinions). His early bio (fictitious narrative) is wonderful and sets Marco's personality as an adventurer who is ready for any challenge. The whole story from start to finish is great. It was terrific to be able to buy the book at a low price and have it shipped speedily. I am reading it with two other books simultaneously - Mr. Selden's Map of China by Timothy Brooke, and The Illustrated Edition of The Travels of Marco Polo translated by Henry Yule and edited by Morris Rossabi keeping Polo's activities neck and neck with each. Good books all and each.

First read this book in paperback, many years ago. Hard to believe a book can make such an impression, that you can remember portions for years. Not sure how the author can describe the experience of a long ago traveler, and make it so believable. It was almost like he was in the mind of the journeyer, and conveys the experiences and encounters of the main character with such flair that you believe this is a real biography. Hard to believe the author can describe the terrain, people encountered, and the sight, sound and smells of this journey, without having been there. What an imagination.Thank goodness for Amazon and Kindle, I can read and enjoy this experience again. Long read, but worth it.

I bought this book as a review material for NBDE , It has better text and much more useful photoes, pics and morphlogical outlines than Wheelers, Just skip the head and neck anatomy part and start with dental anatomy section, there is only one regret about this book , occlusion part is not enough for new NBDE , Overall Its well worth the money.

While overall the process of working with this vendor was fine - the book arrived with a seriously creased front cover. I had bought this as a graduation gift for a future dental student and had no time to return it before graduation. I was very disappointed.

The author continues to examine the many facets of love (I also have his Life in Lyrics). It's amazing how many ways Connor J Garrett looks at and describes love, which is fitting since it is the real subject of our existence. In his work, love is not just a romantic fantasy of heat and passion, longing and lust, heart and soul, agony and ecstasy. It is what he breathes daily. It is the work of his life, and the work of humans, to apprehend, experience, and understand love. There are also poems about being a writer and the creative process and love of family and places and life as it unrolls before us. Underneath everything is the quest to understand love before we run out of time. About half way through I started hearing John Lennon singing "Love Is All You Need" in a corner of my mind. Except I heard it as Love Is All There Is. Amen!

I seriously can’t say this enough- if you love words and you enjoy fresh new writing that isn’t full of cliches, you need to buy this. I loved Life In Lyrics so when this came out I knew it would be good. Connor is great at writing something that makes you feel & think— something I don’t get from the IG “poets” of today. Add this to your collection!!

I was shocked when I got to the part that Harold was gay. I didn't appreciate having to explain this to my 5 year old

*First off let me say this review is about how certain topics have specific places to be discussed and a children's book is not one of them"My son loves to read these books before going to bed. When we got to the chapter revealing Harold is gay/bi everything halted. My son didn't understand why there was a man with Harold. I was totally blindsided by this.The normal potty humor and such is standard for these books but anything outside of that just does not belong in a children's book. Revealing Harold is gay was unnecessary. George and Harold could have just been at work when their younger selves came to visit leaving out totally their sexuality. Because there could have been a way to avoid this type of controversial topic it shows it was purposely put in by the author. I am reluctant to buy any books by this author now and if I do I will have to research the books prior because getting something like this thrown in your face so unexpectedly is outrageous. Let this be a warning to all parents.

My 7-year old son absolutely LOVES these books. Not only are they funny and keep him in stitches, but they have introduced him to some longer vocabulary words that he fully understands and uses now. I find him re-reading them when he is supposed to be asleep. The chapters are short enough to keep his attention and provide a fun plot for any first grade boy (or girl). Yes, they have potty humor which to a 6/7 year old boy is hilarious though some may think it is inappropriate. He loves reading, and even started writing his own comic books after we started the series. We are on Book 5 now!

This book was released today and I just spent three hours reading it to my seven year old son. We actually re-read the entire series, which we own, in anticipation of this sequel, and finished book 10 last night before starting this one tonight.If you are a fan of Captain Underpants then this book is a sure bet. In fact, I think it may be his best work yet in terms of plot development and amusing moments. My son laughed out loud SO many times and I have to admit I did, too!There was a possible discrepancy between this book and the previous one. In the previous book, the time travel was stated as 30 years in the future (and the adult George and Harold were 39 3/4 and 40yo respectively) but in this book it was stated repeatedly as being forty years in the future. It did not seem to be a plot development issue, just a mistake. I went back and reread it to try to figure it out but I was left a little confused. If I am incorrect, please comment!In any case, the book was amazing, and my son never would have noticed the 30years/40years thing on his own! Thanks Dav for another really funny, well put together book that encourages kids to be kids, as obnoxious and as loud and with all the potty humor that it entails. You outdid yourself on the Uranus jokes in this one, though the potty song in the last one was pretty hilarious to my seven year old, too. I am always amused at seeing him so amused. :) you keep making them and we will keep buying them, as we read them repeatedly. This one is no exception, and in fact I think it is one of your best. Thank you!

Excellent for my 8 year old son

Our 2nd grader struggled with reading and her confidence while reading out loud was low. She was so shy about reading out loud that her teacher thought she had a speech issue that required a referral to the speech pathologist at her school! We knew that she just needed to read more to build her confidence, however she didn't seem to like any of the beginner chapter books that we tried. We tried 7-8 various book series before we came across Captain Underpants. I showed our daughter the cover and she giggled. When we started reading with her that night we knew we had found a winner!! She laughed throughout the entire thing! The chapters are short and easy to read. The pictures help developing readers stay interested in the developing plot, and the humor hooks them! We are so thankful that we found a series that helped our daughter learn to love reading. Just this past week she came home from school and said that she wanted to check out a Captain Underpants book at her school library but her teacher told her no! She said that her teacher doesn't allow her students to read "those kinds" of books. I was so disappointed to hear that a teacher would limit reading options for young readers. The books are very silly and a little sarcastic, but if children can connect to a book I believe they should be allowed to explore it!! If the books were inappropriate I would think they wouldn't be allowed in the school library at all. I was happy to see that my daughter pulled the book out of her backpack and said, "I got it anyway!". A must read for any young/ developing reader!

And I like them too. I learned about this series when visiting family and saw that my 6 yr old grandson had two (of the 9) books in the series. His mother liked them as they didn't have offensive words (like fart and poop and snot and other stuff that so many young people's books seem to have these days. It is male-centered in a world (it seems) of books geared to girls these days -- and the male-figure ones are outlandish in wording and bodily-function jokes. The main character is a boy mouse and the adventures are fun for young boys who want to be a hero of sorts in a simple life. The Mighty Robot is the hero but his owner is 'the little boy mouse'. Fun for adults to read out loud and many simple words so young readers can want to read them too. At first my grandson was disappointed that the 'new' books were a reprint edition of the ones he had but then he realized that the pages were thicker, the graphics cooler and now he wants new books of the two he already had (which he found a a used books store/thrift store). Even the older edition books he read at the library had torn pages (thin newsprint pages). So he agreed the new books would work out just fine. He was super surprised that his grandmother was able to find all the books he was missing (the other 7) and they arrived a few days into her trip - lots of time left to read them all.
